It is very minimal. Someone once called it a halfway house in between a CMS and writing raw HTML, which is what some like about it.
The original lichen self-described as "the simplest possible cms for the web that is friendly enough for non-technical users".
In the pane on the left, you can write markdown or html, and in the pane on the right you see the preview. The lack of features can be considered a form of asmr.
